An impressive effort by Michael McCormick carried the Danville Dans (13-11) to an 11-1 win over the Hannibal Cavemen (6-15) on Thursday at Danville Stadium.
The Hannibal Cavemen had no answer for McCormick, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Hannibal Cavemen managed just two hits off of McCormick, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his eight innings of work.
Six runs in the first three innings helped the Danville Dans blow out the Hannibal Cavemen. An RBI single by Corbin Woods and a groundout by Ishmael Edwards during the first inning and a two-run home run by Zackary FIelds, an RBI single by Woods, and an RBI single by Woods in the second inning helped the Danville Dans put some runs on the board early.
Woods had a hot bat for the Danville Dans. Woods went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs.
DJ Hickey was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked two and struck out five.
