A walk-off single from Jesus Caporal brought home the winning run for the Springfield Sliders (10-11) in a 2-1 victory over the Hannibal Cavemen (3-14) in 11 innings at Robin Roberts Field on Sunday.
The Springfield Sliders were led by Caporal's hitting. Caporal went 1-5 and drove in one. He singled in the eleventh inning.
Tanner Lupton allowed one earned run, three hits and four walks while striking out four over seven innings of work.
Avery Brandon improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Springfield Sliders. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered no hits.
Tyler Yancey ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
