Fourth-inning rally sparks blowout win for the Quincy Gems, 8-1

A five-run explosion in the fourth inning led the Quincy Gems (7-10) to an 8-1 win over the Springfield Sliders at Quincy Stadium on Tuesday.

The Quincy Gems scored in the fourth on a triple by Anthony Villa, a single by Taylor Schwaner, an RBI single by Jake Walters, a groundout by Kyle Reed, a groundout by Reed, , and a single by Justin Wylie.

Wylie racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Quincy Gems.

The Quincy Gems had no answer for Tanner Lupton, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Lupton gave up just three hits, allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out two during his 4 2/3 innings of work.

Connor Etheridge couldn't get it done on the mound for the Springfield Sliders (7-9), taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out three.
