The Butler BlueSox (7-7) jumped out to an early lead on the Richmond RiverRats (4-10) and captured a 10-4 victory on Thursday at McBride Stadium.

Five runs in the first three innings allowed the Butler BlueSox to put the game away early.

An RBI single by Jamie Switalski, a hit by pitch, a single by Chucky Vazquez, a three-run single by Matt Hansen, an error, and a groundout by Alex Stephens in the second inning helped the Butler BlueSox put some runs on the board early.

Hansen racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Butler BlueSox.

James Dey brought the heat against the Butler BlueSox during his outing. Dey held the Butler BlueSox hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Josh LaPiana improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Butler BlueSox. He allowed four runs over six innings. LaPiana struck out six, walked one and gave up five hits.

Sam Burton (0-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
