Taylor Schwaner collected three hits, helping the Quincy Gems (4-7) to a 9-4 victory over the Springfield Sliders (5-7) on Tuesday at Robin Roberts Field.

Joseph Mercado racked up seven strikeouts in the the Quincy Gems win. Mercado allowed one earned run on four hits and four walks over six innings.

Connor Etheridge ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked two and struck out one.
