Thursday was a great day for David Marcus, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Butler BlueSox (4-4) to a 6-4 victory over the Chillicothe Paints (4-4) at Kelly Auto Park.
Zach Spangler pitched lights out for the Butler BlueSox. Spangler held the Chillicothe Paints hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Grant Miller got on base four times in the game for the Chillicothe Paints. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fifth and seventh innings.
Josh LaPiana got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed one run over five innings. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered seven hits.
Jake Shields couldn't get it done on the bump for the Chillicothe Paints, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out seven.
The Butler BlueSox were sparked by Alex Miklos and Marcus, who teamed up for five hits and three RBIs.
