The Hannibal Cavemen cruise past the Quincy Gems, 10-4

The Quincy Gems (3-7) didn't stand a chance on Thursday, as the Hannibal Cavemen (1-9) captured a blowout 10-4 win at Quincy Stadium.

The Hannibal Cavemen scored three runs in the seventh on the Hannibal Cavemen scored in the seventh on an RBI triple by Justin Blechle and a two-run home run by Phillip Stiles.

Blechle had two extra-base hits for the Hannibal Cavemen.

Dalton Smith pitched lights out for the Hannibal Cavemen. Smith held the Quincy Gems hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

Taylor Schwaner was hot from the plate for the Quincy Gems. Schwaner went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the first and fifth innings.

Ryan Furtney improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Hannibal Cavemen. He allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings. Furtney struck out three, walked two and gave up three hits.

Joseph Mercado (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed five runs.

The Hannibal Cavemen's Blechle, Emilio Lollio and Stiles combined for six hits and five RBIs.
