An excellent effort by Austin Kelly spurred the Linn-Benton (20-21) to an 8-1 win over the Chemeketa (18-23) on Saturday at Chemeketa Baseball Stadium.
Kelly allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks while striking out seven over nine innings of work.
Five runs in the first three innings helped the Linn-Benton blow out the Chemeketa. A sacrifice fly by Trevin Stephens and an RBI single by Luke Rappe in the first inning and an RBI single by Mike Takamori during the second inning helped the Linn-Benton put some runs on the board early.
Eric Allen went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Linn-Benton. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the third inning.
Kris Jackson pitched lights out for the Chemeketa. The Linn-Benton managed just one hit off of Jackson, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his three innings of work.
