The Bellevue (26-17) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 6-3 ballgame against the Douglas (12-18) on Saturday at Courter Field .
While the Bellevue led until the ninth inning, the Douglas worked their way back and took the lead on a two-run home run by Mitchell Jackman.
Mike Orosz was hot from the plate for the Douglas. Orosz went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the sixth and eighth innings.
Cory Duggan handled the Bellevue's lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. Duggan allowed one earned run on eight hits and one walk over seven innings.
A bright spot for the Bellevue in the defeat was Corbin Powers, who allowed only three runs while striking out six.
Brett Sakaki recorded his first win of the year for the Douglas. Sakaki struck out none, walked two and gave up two hits.
Brooks Hanson (2-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
