The Douglas (12-19) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 4-1 to the Skagit Valley (16-20) on Saturday.
While the Douglas led until the sixth inning, the Skagit Valley worked their way back and took the lead on a sacrifice fly by Ashton Williamson.
Jacob Howard kept contact to a minimum, striking out seven the Douglas batters. Howard allowed one earned run on four hits and three walks over seven innings.
Cory Duggan ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked five, struck out seven, and allowed four runs.
