A magnificent effort by Alex Smith carried the Yakima Valley (11-3) to a 6-0 win over the Green River (4-12) on Saturday at Parker Field .

Smith kept the Green River off the board during his seven innings of work. Smith struck out seven and allowed no walks and three hits.

The Yakima Valley blew out the Green River thanks to 10 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Yakima Valley scored two runs in the seventh on the Yakima Valley scored in the seventh on an RBI single by Jake Manson and an RBI single by Brian Valentine.

Jay Becker went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Yakima Valley. He homered in the first inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Chase Kairis (1-3) took the loss for the Green River. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
