A magnificent effort by Kendall Motes carried the Chemeketa (15-18) to a 5-1 win over the Linfield JV on Friday at Linfield.
The Chemeketa relied on Motes to eat up innings en route to the win. Motes pitched nine innings and allowed no earned runs, four hits and no walks while striking out five.
The Chemeketa scored three runs in the first inning to build an early lead. The Chemeketa scored in the first on a sacrifice fly by Rocco Ferrari, a groundout by Ethan Bragg, and an error.
Bragg racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Chemeketa.
Connor Scott couldn't get it done on the hill for the Linfield JV, taking a loss. He lasted just eight innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
