The Walla Walla uses big fifth inning to beat the Columbia Basin, 15-5

An eight-run explosion in the fifth inning hoisted the Walla Walla (26-14) to a 15-5 win in seven innings over the Columbia Basin (28-12) at Warrior Field on Saturday.

The Walla Walla scored in the fifth on an RBI double by Cameron Walker, an RBI single by Gibson McGeorge, a passed ball, , , a two-run single by Jarod Paul, and a groundout by Dylan Wilbert.

Paul racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Walla Walla.

Hayden Meier racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Columbia Basin. He homered in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Walker recorded his fifth win for the Walla Walla even though he allowed five runs over seven innings. Walker struck out four, walked one and gave up seven hits.

Colton Plew was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

The Walla Walla pounded the Columbia Basin pitching, as six hitters combined for 11 hits, 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
