Saturday was a great day for Jacob Gleichman, as Gleichman tossed a shutout to carry the Columbia Basin (23-8) to a 14-0 victory over the Spokane (20-8) at Columbia Basin Baseball Field in seven innings.
The Spokane couldn't get anything going as long as Gleichman was pitching. The Spokane managed just one hit off of Gleichman, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his seven innings of work.
Ten runs in the first three innings helped the Columbia Basin blow out the Spokane. A solo home run by Hayden Meier and an error in the second inning fueled the Columbia Basin's offense early.
Meier racked up five RBIs on three hits for the Columbia Basin.
Corbin Smith ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in two innings, walked two and struck out none.
