Early lead gives the Walla Walla easy victory over the Columbia Basin, 12-1

The Walla Walla (18-10) jumped out to an early lead on the Columbia Basin (21-7) and captured a 12-1 victory on Saturday at Columbia Basin Baseball Field.

The game was decided quickly as the Walla Walla exerted their will early with six runs in the first three innings.

A two-run home run by Dylan Wilbert, a sacrifice fly by Cody Price, a two-run triple by Steven Sordahl, and a sacrifice fly by Austin Kopacz in the second inning fueled the Walla Walla's offense early.

Clayten Ayres put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Walla Walla. He doubled in the second inning and homered in the fifth innings.

Cameron Walker picked up the win for the Walla Walla. Walker allowed one earned run, five hits and no walks while striking out five over seven innings of work.

Adam Mathews was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out one.

The Walla Walla pounded the Columbia Basin pitching, as six hitters combined for 10 hits, nine RBIs and nine runs scored.
