The Lower Columbia (7-4) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 5-3 to the Columbia Basin (10-2) on Sunday.
A two-run double by Gunnar Buhner gave the Columbia Basin the lead in the eighth inning.
Drew Loera had a hot bat for the Columbia Basin. Loera went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second, fourth, and sixth innings.
The Lower Columbia had no answer for Evan Harder, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Lower Columbia managed just three hits off of Harder, who allowed no earned runs, walked five and struck out five during his six innings of work.
Tanner Simpson got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Simpson struck out one, walked one and gave up no hits.
Nick Tabura ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
