The Quincy Gems (4-2) beat the Chillicothe Paints (3-2) 3-1 on Wednesday at VA Memorial Stadium behind Mitch Gasbarro, who went 2-2.

The Quincy Gems relied on Preston Church to eat up innings en route to the win. Church pitched eight innings and allowed one earned run, seven hits and two walks while striking out four.

Jason Johnson brought the heat against the Quincy Gems during his outing. Johnson held the Quincy Gems hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out none.

Lance Elder couldn't get it done on the hill for the Chillicothe Paints, taking a loss. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
