A magnificent effort by Kalei Contrades hoisted the Medicine Hat Mavericks (4-1) to a 2-1 win over the Okotoks Dawgs (3-3) on Thursday at Athletic Park.
The Medicine Hat Mavericks relied on Contrades to eat up innings en route to the win. Contrades allowed one earned run, five hits and no walks while striking out three over nine innings of work.
Andy Scott racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and sixth innings.
Jon Richards pitched lights out for the Okotoks Dawgs. The Medicine Hat Mavericks managed just one hit off of Richards, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.
Conor Lillis-White was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
