Both the Bethesda Big Train (2-1) and the Rockville Express (2-2) put runners aboard on Thursday, but it was the Bethesda Big Train that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 6-4 win at Shirley Povich Field.

Romeo Cortina had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He homered in the fifth inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

Jake Valdez improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Bethesda Big Train. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered four hits.

Corey Leszczynski ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
