A walk-off single from Collin Forgey brought home the winning run for the Alpine Cowboys (3-1) in a 5-4 victory over the Santa Fe Fuego (2-2) in 13 innings at Kokernot Field on Wednesday.
The Alpine Cowboys were led by Forgey's hitting. Forgey went 2-7 and drove in one. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the thirteenth inning.
Tyler Heck got on base four times in the game for the Alpine Cowboys. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the fourth, sixth, and eleventh innings.
The Santa Fe Fuego had no answer for Scotty Hong, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Hong held the Santa Fe Fuego hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.
Cory Deigan was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed one run.
