Sammy Taormina had two extra base hits, sparking the Ballantyne Smokies (23-14) to a 5-3 victory over the Pineville Pioneers (16-17) on Wednesday.

CJ Selner pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out two.

Dalton Eisenbath improved to 4-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Ballantyne Smokies. He allowed one run over 1 2/3 innings. Eisenbath struck out two, walked three and gave up two hits.

Tyler Byrnes ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

The Ballantyne Smokies were sparked by Taormina and Mitchell Price, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs.
