An outstanding effort by Brady Acker lifted the Gaithersburg Giants (21-17) to a 12-4 win over the Herndon Braves (17-22) on Saturday at Criswell Automotive Field.
Acker rocked the Herndon Braves with two home runs. Acker went 3-4 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Acker homered in the fifth and sixth innings.
The Gaithersburg Giants blew out the Herndon Braves thanks to 17 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Gaithersburg Giants scored five runs in the sixth on the Gaithersburg Giants scored in the sixth on a double by Colin McGowan, a double by Connor Macalla, a solo home run by Acker, a single by Matt Oniffrey, and a solo home run by Hunter Pearre.
The Herndon Braves couldn't get anything going as long as Trevor Houck was pitching. Houck gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his four innings of work.
Connor Norton couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Herndon Braves, taking a loss. He allowed nine runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out seven.
