Frank Holbrook held the Westcott (6-11) scoreless for seven innings to boost the Newport (7-10) to a 3-0 victory.
Holbrook struck out nine and allowed no walks and six hits.
Mike Melillo was solid at the plate for the Newport. Melillo went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Matt Laferriere ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed one run.
