Five first-inning runs helped the White Sands Pupfish (21-25) to an 8-5 win over the Bisbee Blue (27-20) on Thursday.
The White Sands Pupfish scored in the first on a wild pitch, a groundout by Yermin Mercedes, a groundout by Willie Miller, a solo home run by Preston Lyon, and an RBI single by Jacob Anderson.
It was a good day at the plate for the White Sands Pupfish's Miguel Castano. Castano went 4-5 and scored two runs. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the first, sixth, and eighth innings.
Mike Ormseth picked up the win for the White Sands Pupfish. Ormseth allowed two earned runs, seven hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings of work.
Daniel Aldrich racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Bisbee Blue. He singled in the third inning and homered in the ninth inning.
Matt Horan ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in six innings, walked three and struck out three.
