Octavio Rodriguez hopes every outing could go as well as Friday, as Rodriguez threw a shutout to carry the Youses Orioles (3-8) to a 4-0 victory over the D.C. Grays (6-7) at Bachman Park in seven innings.
The D.C. Grays had no answer for Rodriguez, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The D.C. Grays managed just one hit off of the the Youses Orioles' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out six during his seven innings of work.
The Youses Orioles came out swinging, scoring three runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the D.C. Grays early. A three-run home run by Chris Bzozowski delivered the runs in the first. The Youses Orioles had two hits in the inning.
Bzozowski racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Youses Orioles.
Colin Kelly couldn't get it done on the rubber for the D.C. Grays, taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed four runs.
