Austin Botts went 2-3 and hit a home run, sparking the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (4-8) to a 4-2 victory in seven innings over the Seacoast Mavericks (5-7) on Thursday at Doyle Field.

Ryan Venditti pitched lights out for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. Venditti held the Seacoast Mavericks hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Alex Merritt reached base two times in the game for the Seacoast Mavericks. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the fifth inning.

Matt Brill had an impressive outing against the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs' lineup. Brill held the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Ben White improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. He allowed two runs over five innings. White struck out seven, walked one and gave up five hits.

Taso Stathopoulos (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
