Both the Alexandria Aces (18-12) and the D.C. Grays (9-19) put runners aboard on Saturday, but it was the Alexandria Aces that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 4-2 win at Washington Nationals Academy.
The Alexandria Aces relied on Tyler Tobin to eat up innings en route to the win. Tobin allowed no earned runs, four hits and one walk while striking out one over eight innings of work.
Joe Tietjen paced the D.C. Grays at the plate. Tietjen went 3-4 and drove in one. He singled in the second and fifth innings and doubled in the ninth inning.
Harry Thomas ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
