An 11-run explosion in the eighth inning spurred the Bethesda Big Train (23-6) to a 17-3 win over the Herndon Braves (11-14) at Shirley Povich Field on Friday.

The Bethesda Big Train scored in the eighth on , an RBI single by Chris Lewis, a fielder's choice, an RBI single by Andrew Brown, an RBI single by Cody Manzella, a two-run double by Albee Weiss, an RBI single by Logan Farrar, a two-run double by Brandon Lowe, and an RBI single by Kevin Tatum.

Lowe led the Bethesda Big Train's offensive threat, as he got on base six times in the game. He scored five runs and had two RBIs.

Josh Thorne brought the heat against the Herndon Braves during his outing. The Herndon Braves managed just two hits off of Thorne, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his two innings of work.

The Herndon Braves were led by Jacob Weston's hitting. Weston went 3-4 and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third and sixth innings.

Henry Sisson got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out eight, walked one and surrendered seven hits.

Tanner Love (1-2) took the loss for the Herndon Braves. He lasted just three innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
