An ace performance by Dan Powers spurred the Vienna River Dogs (11-10) to a 3-1 win over the D.C. Grays (9-16) on Saturday at Washington Nationals Academy.
The D.C. Grays couldn't get anything going as long as Powers was pitching. The D.C. Grays managed just one hit off of the the Vienna River Dogs' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two during his eight innings of work.
Ray Lopez got on base three times in the game for the Vienna River Dogs. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the first and ninth innings.
Caleb Evans ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed one run.
