A great effort by Jorge Flores spurred the Gaithersburg Giants (10-7) to an 11-0 win over the Youses Orioles (6-12) on Friday at Bachman Park.
Flores kept the Youses Orioles off the board during his seven innings of work. Flores struck out eight and allowed one walk and three hits.
The Gaithersburg Giants blew out the Youses Orioles thanks to 15 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Gaithersburg Giants scored five runs in the fifth on the Gaithersburg Giants scored in the fifth on a fielder's choice, an RBI single by Tom Kelleher, an RBI single by Mason Hesse, and a two-run single by Robbie Metz.
Metz had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits.
Brian Shaffer was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in five innings, walked three and struck out two.
