Braedon Lawson was cold coming off the bench, but Lawson warmed up quickly as Lawson stroked a key pinch-hit single in the five to lead the Vienna River Dogs (5-4) to a 4-1 win over the Baltimore Redbirds (8-4) on Saturday at Calvert Hall HS.

With the Vienna River Dogs leading by one, Lawson came to the plate and singled.

Jordan Sergent reached base four times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the seventh inning.

Garrett Hudson put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Baltimore Redbirds. He doubled in the fifth and seventh innings.

Lawson improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Vienna River Dogs. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Nick Grant (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked eight, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
