Gunning helps the Manitoba down the British Columbia 7-3

The Manitoba (2-1) beat the British Columbia (2-1) 7-3 in eight innings on Friday at Field two behind Matt Gunning, who had two extra base hits.

He doubled in the first inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Greg Hockin kept contact to a minimum, striking out nine the British Columbia batters. Hockin allowed two earned runs on six hits and one walk over seven innings.

The British Columbia were led by Robert Foerster's hitting. Foerster went 2-3 and scored two runs. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning.

Leon Boyd was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed five runs.

The Manitoba were sparked by Gunning and Mitch Olsen, who teamed up for four hits and five RBIs.
