The Saskatchewan (1-0) beat the St. Johns (0-1) 8-3 in seven innings on Thursday at Field one behind Quinn Hersikorn, who had two extra base hits.

He homered in the fourth inning.

Steven Latos struck out eight hitters en route to the the Saskatchewan win. Latos allowed two earned runs on three hits and six walks over 6 2/3 innings.

Scott Goosney couldn't get it done on the hill for the St. Johns, taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed five runs.

The Saskatchewan were sparked by Hersikorn and JP Willner, who teamed up for four hits and four RBIs.
