Donaldson leads the Alpine Cowboys to 18-9 win over the Santa Fe Fuego

Story by Narrative Science.

An impressive effort by Casanova Donaldson hoisted the Alpine Cowboys (22-9) to an 18-9 win over the Santa Fe Fuego (17-11) on Wednesday at Fort Marcy Park.

Donaldson rocked the Santa Fe Fuego with two home runs. Donaldson went 6-6 in the game with four RBIs and five runs scored. Donaldson homered in the seventh and ninth innings.

The two teams combined for 27 runs and 31 hits, including zero extra base hits. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were eight pitchers used in the game.

Eleven runs in the first three innings helped the Alpine Cowboys blow out the Santa Fe Fuego. A three-run home run by Austin Prott during the first inning and a solo home run by John Hotta, an RBI double by Donaldson, an RBI double by Tyler Heck, and a two-run double by Brian Milliman in the second inning helped the Alpine Cowboys put some runs on the board early.

Andrew Shoemaker improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Alpine Cowboys. He allowed two runs over two innings. Shoemaker struck out one, walked one and gave up no hits.

Josh Downing (1-1) took the loss for the Santa Fe Fuego. He allowed 11 runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out two.
