Third-inning rally sparks blowout win for the Atwater Aviators, 13-1

The Atwater Aviators (16-22) took down the Central Valley Bears 13-1 on Saturday at Fireman's Memorial Ballpark after slamming the Central Valley Bears with nine runs in the third inning.

The Atwater Aviators scored in the third on a two-run error, an RBI single by Darren Trainor, an RBI single by David Vidauri, , a sacrifice fly by Tanner Robinson, a solo home run by Rhet Montana, and a three-run home run by Montana.

Montana racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Atwater Aviators.

The Central Valley Bears had no answer for Brent Backlund, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Backlund gave up just three hits, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out four during his six innings of work.

Nonini couldn't get it done on the hill for the Central Valley Bears, taking a loss. He allowed 10 runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked five and struck out one.
