The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (22-16) beat the Orleans Firebirds (22-14) 6-3 on Friday at Eldredge Park behind Rob Fonseca, who went 2-4.

The Orleans Firebirds had no answer for Michael Murray, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Orleans Firebirds managed just one hit off of Murray, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out eight during his five innings of work.

David Thompson had two extra-base hits for the Orleans Firebirds. He homered in the sixth inning and doubled in the eighth inning.

Josh Sborz (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.
