Early lead gives the Harwich Mariners easy victory over the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, 12-1

The Harwich Mariners (20-12) jumped out to an early lead on the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (20-15) and captured a 12-1 victory on Tuesday at Red Wilson Field.

With seven runs in the first three innings, the Harwich Mariners left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI single by Anthony Hermelyn, an RBI single by Hermelyn, a solo home run by C.J. Hinojosa, and a two-run home run by Hinojosa in the first inning helped the Harwich Mariners put some runs on the board early.

Matt Gonzalez racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Harwich Mariners. He singled in the third and fifth innings.

Zack Erwin pitched lights out for the Harwich Mariners. The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox managed just two hits off of Erwin, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out two during his six innings of work.

Rob Fonseca had two extra-base hits for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. He doubled in the second inning and homered in the fourth inning.

Josh Staumont was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked five and struck out four.
