Valentin Jr. helps the Pittsfield Suns down the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs 6-5

Michael Valentin Jr. had two extra base hits, helping the Pittsfield Suns (7-6) to a 6-5 victory over the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (5-9) on Friday at Wahconah Park.

He tripled in the third inning, singled in the first and fourth innings, and doubled in the eighth inning.

Jamin McCann picked up the win for the Pittsfield Suns. McCann pitched seven innings and allowed three earned runs, six hits and one walk while striking out four.

Joe Breen racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. He homered in the sixth inning.

Evan Mackintosh brought the heat against the Pittsfield Suns during his outing. The Pittsfield Suns managed just two hits off of Mackintosh, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Connor Smith was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
