Both the Joliet Slammers (36-55) and the Frontier Greys (29-61) put runners aboard on Friday, but it was the Joliet Slammers that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 6-3 win at Silver Cross Field.
The fact that the Joliet Slammers grouped all of their runs into the seventh inning helped them take advantage of their hits.
David Kubiak put together a nice outing. Kubiak held the Frontier Greys hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Matt Costello improved to 3-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Joliet Slammers. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Costello struck out two, walked one and gave up nine hits.
Paul Mittura was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
