Connor Whalen kept the Joliet Slammers (29-48) off the board during his six innings of work and the Lake Erie Crushers (44-32) beat the Joliet Slammers, 9-3.
Whalen allowed two hits, no walks and struck out seven.
Seven runs in the first three innings helped the Lake Erie Crushers blow out the Joliet Slammers. A sacrifice fly by Anderson Hidalgo in the first inning and a home run by Craig Hertler during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Lake Erie Crushers.
Hertler racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Lake Erie Crushers.
Matt Crim (1-3) took the loss for the Joliet Slammers. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked three and struck out two.
