The Joliet Slammers (28-43) and the Evansville Otters (42-27) both threatened with rallies, but it was the Joliet Slammers that eventually took advantage of them in a 3-1 win at Bosse Field.
Matt Crim struck out six hitters en route to the the Joliet Slammers win. The Joliet Slammers' pitcher gave up just six hits over five shutout innings.
A bright spot for the Evansville Otters in the defeat was Trevor Walch, who allowed only three runs while striking out nine.
Walch was charged with his first loss of the year.
