The River City Rascals (41-26) and the Southern Illinois Miners (40-27) each put runners in scoring position on Saturday, but the River City Rascals capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 5-4 win at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.

Tommy Mendoza picked up the win for the River City Rascals. Mendoza pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and no walks while striking out two.

Aaron Gates paced the Southern Illinois Miners at the plate. Gates went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the seventh and ninth innings.

Matt Bywater couldn't get it done on the mound for the Southern Illinois Miners, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked five, struck out nine, and allowed five runs.
