The Schaumburg Boomers (35-26) jumped on the Lake Erie Crushers (33-28) early on their way to a 9-4 win on Sunday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium, scoring four runs in the first inning.

The Schaumburg Boomers scored in the first on an RBI single by Mark Nelson, a sacrifice fly by Gerard Hall, a groundout by Ty Nelson, and an error.

Nelson was hot from the plate for the Schaumburg Boomers. Nelson went 3-4 and scored one run.

Craig Hertler went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for the Lake Erie Crushers. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the second and seventh innings.

Hunter Ackerman recorded his third win of the year for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered 10 hits.

Zac Treece (3-3) took the loss for the Lake Erie Crushers. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked three and struck out two.
