The Southern Illinois Miners take out the Washington Wild Things with help from Martinez, 4-2

Frank Martinez had three RBIs as the Southern Illinois Miners (34-24) took home a 4-2 victory over the Washington Wild Things (37-21) at Rent One Park, Marion, IL on Thursday.

He singled in the first inning and doubled in the second inning.

The Southern Illinois Miners relied on Michael Carden to eat up innings en route to the win. Carden allowed one earned run, four hits and three walks while striking out four over 5 2/3 innings of work.

Scott Kalamar got on base three times in the game for the Washington Wild Things. He singled in the fourth inning.

Scott Dunn was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked five, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
