The Schaumburg Boomers (31-26) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 5-2 to the Florence Freedom (24-31) on Wednesday.

The Florence Freedom's Sam Eberle was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. He singled in the first and third innings.

It was a good day at the plate for the Schaumburg Boomers' Bobby Martin. Martin went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Ed Kohout recorded his first win of the year for the Florence Freedom. Kohout struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.

Eddie Cody was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
