A great effort by Kevin Taylor hoisted the Traverse City Beach Bums (22-34) to a 7-5 win in 12 innings over the Joliet Slammers (22-34) on Tuesday at Silver Cross Field.
Taylor blasted two home runs for the Traverse City Beach Bums. Taylor went 3-5 in the game with two RBIs and three runs scored. Taylor homered in the third and fifth innings.
Alex Phillips baffled the Joliet Slammers, striking out five batters. Phillips allowed one earned run, four hits and three walks over 5 2/3 innings.
Scott Vachon got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed one run over two innings. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered two hits.
Jordan Wellander ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
