The Normal CornBelters (24-21) and the Joliet Slammers (17-28) both had scoring chances on Tuesday, but it was the Normal CornBelters that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 3-2 win at The Corn Crib.

Mike Schwartz had two extra-base hits for the Normal CornBelters. He homered in the first inning and tripled in the eighth inning.

Charley Short improved to 4-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Normal CornBelters. Short struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.

Brett Zawacki was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.

The Normal CornBelters were sparked by Schwartz and Aaron Dudley, who teamed up for three hits and two RBIs.
