The Schaumburg Boomers offense too much for the Normal CornBelters in 9-3 rout

The Schaumburg Boomers (25-19) shut the door early on the Normal CornBelters (22-21), capturing a 9-3 victory on Sunday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.

Seven runs in the first three innings allowed the Schaumburg Boomers to put the game away early.

, a triple by Alexi Colon, , an RBI single by Justin Vasquez, and a double by Mark Nelson during the second inning fueled the Schaumburg Boomers' offense early.

Brian McConkey put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He doubled in the third inning and homered in the sixth inning.

The Schaumburg Boomers got the win thanks in large part to Danny Jimenez's dominant, seven-strikeout performance. Jimenez allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks over six innings.

It was a good day at the plate for the Normal CornBelters' Santiago Chirino. Chirino went 3-5 and drove in one. He singled in the third and seventh innings and tripled in the ninth inning.

Bobby Shore was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked five and struck out five.

Vasquez, Colon and McConkey helped lead the Schaumburg Boomers. They combined for five hits and seven RBIs.
