An excellent effort by Shayne Houck lifted the Evansville Otters (18-14) to a 9-3 win in 10 innings over the Southern Illinois Miners (18-15) on Sunday at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.
Houck racked up six RBIs on four hits for the Evansville Otters. He homered in the fourth and fifth innings and singled in the second and ninth innings.
The Evansville Otters blew out the Southern Illinois Miners thanks to 11 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Evansville Otters scored three runs in the ninth on the Evansville Otters scored in the ninth on a wild pitch, an RBI single by Jeremy Nowak, and an RBI single by Houck.
Robert Ramer got the win, running his season record to 7-0. He allowed two runs over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered nine hits.
Tyler Lavigne couldn't get it done on the mound for the Southern Illinois Miners, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked two and struck out two.
