The Washington Wild Things (20-12) failed to take advantage of C.J. Beatty's effort at the plate on Saturday, losing 9-4 to the Normal CornBelters (14-16) at CONSOL Energy Park.
Beatty rocked the Normal CornBelters with two home runs. Beatty went 3-3 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Beatty homered in the fourth and eighth innings.
Sam Judah had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the fourth inning, homered in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.
The Normal CornBelters relied on Cullen Babin to eat up innings en route to the win. Babin allowed three earned runs, five hits and three walks while striking out four over 7 2/3 innings of work.
Alex Kaminsky couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Washington Wild Things, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked one and struck out one.
The Normal CornBelters' Santiago Chirino, Patrick McKenna and Judah combined for nine hits and four RBIs.
